Summary of the NSW Decade of Landcare Evaluation

The years 1990 to 2000 were declared the 'Decade of Landcare' by Australian Soil Coverservation Ministers in 1989. NSW, along with the Commonwealth and all other States and Territories developed Decade of Landcare Plans which aimed to reverse and prevent land degradation and sustainable land use. This document is the summary of the full report of the NSW Decade of Landcare Evaluation, which reviews Landcare's influence and achievements against the Plan goals, objectives and actions.

The full version of the Decade of Landcare evaluation contains a compilation of a variety of landcare achievements. It is a detailed reference for policy makers, researchers and students, and provides a perspective on the influence of participants in Landcare.

Landcare Sponsorship - a guide for groups in NSW (34KB)

With resources for landcare activities becoming increasingly difficult to access, many groups are looking towards sponsorship as an alternative way of funding their activities. Sponsorship is also seen as a way of involving the corporate sector in landcare and gaining their support for landcare activities. Landcare Sponsorship includes information on the issues which you will need to consider when approaching companies for sponsorship.

Support Package For Promoting Community Involvement in Natural Resource and Environment (105 KB)

Community groups have a major challenge in raising public awareness and support about their work in addressing local natural resource issues. This package has been developed by the Dept of Land and Water Conservation to help groups and their support staff tell people about their activities and achievements. The package contains useful information on a range of communication and promotional tools for Landcare and other community groups.

This forum was held in Parkes in 2001. This document is a summary of the forum proceedings with abbrieviated transcripts of the talks, issue development groups and Landcare Working Group comments and recommendations. Community Landcare Issues Workshop - Outcomes and recommendations

This workshop was held in 2003, in conjunction with the 4th Landcare/Catchment Management Forum at Batemans Bay. 110 landcarers met to discuss the future direction of Landcare in NSW. Recommendations from the workshop will inform future decision making by the NSW Government and DNR, the new catchment management authorities (CMAs), the landcare movement and the new landcare peak body. This series of fact sheets are designed to help landcare groups find their way around the growing network of landcarers and introduce them to those agencies and others who can assist with landcare activities. The fact sheets cover such topics as maintaining a landcare group, insurance, incorporation, joining the landcare network, state and national landcare activities and organisations, support for community groups and use of the Landcare logo.
